Capitals Ice Cream

Capitals Ice Cream is a tasty treat that will leave you wanting to come back again and again. My parents and I grabbed a sweet treat here after dinner – we were stuffed and probably could have split 1, but you know how it is we had to each get our own! You can make your own or you can choose from several combinations that are fan favorites. If you opt to make your own, you first choose between a chocolate or vanilla base. Then the creativity really begins. They have basic, cereal and fruit mix-ins. Each build your own comes with your choice of 2 mix-ins and you can always add more for $0.50 each! Basics include cookie dough, graham crackers, peanut butter, and oreos to name a few. Cereal mix-ins are as they suggest – lucky charms, fruity pebbles, cinnamon toast crunch, reeses puffs, cocoa puffs, and cap’n crunch. Their fruit options include strawberries, bananas, blueberries and pineapple. If you don’t want to think about what mixins you want, you can grab one of their favorite combinations. These include Teddy Roosevelt, Mount Scott, Bipartisan, Great Salt Plains and more!

My family and I tried the CoOKIEs and Cream (get it, OKIEs like Oklahoman’s), Oklahoma Standard, and the Cookies Conquer All. The cookies and cream comes loaded with you guessed it, cookies! It starts with a vanilla base and they add chocolate chip cookies, oreos, and cookie crisp. It is then topped off with an oreo + crushed oreo, cookie dough bites and drizzled with chocolate sauce. If you are a cookie fan, this one is hard to beat. The oklahoma standard starts with a vanilla base and has fudge brownie and peanut butter mixed in and is topped with chocolate sauce and a cute lil Oklahoma flag. If you like chocolate and peanut butter, grab this one. For me it was a bit too rich and chocolatey, but it did have a great peanut butter taste! Lastly, and the best one (but I am biased since it was the one I ordered) was the cookies conquer all. Another delicious options for cookie lovers, but this one takes the cookies and cream up to a whole other level. It starts with a vanilla base and has cookie butter, chocolate chip cookies, and cookie dough mixed in. It is finished with more cookie dough bites and chocolate drizzle! I love cookie butter, so this was no brainer for me. Their Mount Scott was a close tie to order because it was basically a s’more flavor and I love s’mores! Capitals is high tech, so no waiting for them to mix in your toppings by hand, like the days at Marble Slab. They have this machine, like what you would expect to see at McDonald’s when they mix your McFlurry that whips and mixes in those ingredients in under 30 seconds. And don’t worry, unlike McDonald’s you won’t find Capitals claiming their ice cream machine is broken!
