Spicy Chong Qing

Spicy Chong Qing is a small restaurant located in the Great Wall Mall(really it is a small shopping center with tons of restaurants and an asian grocery store) in Kent, WA. They are open everyday, except Tuesday from 11am-9pm, so you can check them out for lunch or dinner! I found this place a few years back and go to the shopping center every few weeks to either get speciality items from the grocery store or to grab dinner. There are so many restaurants in this place, but this is one of my favorites. If you love spicy food, this is definitely the place for you. Majority of their dishes are influenced from the Szechuan region of China, which is known for their spicy food and peppers! Szechuan is also known for their pandas, but that is just a random fun fact for the day and not why you came to read this review! This restaurant has one of my all time favorite dishes – it is basically fried eggs and tomatoes. Sounds super simple, and it is, but trust me replicating it at home just isn’t as good as the real deal. I first fell in love with this dish during my travels to China and tried to find it for years in the US and was unsuccessful until I stumbled upon this restaurant a few years ago. Although a lot of their dishes feature the Szechuan peppers, they do have a number of dishes on their menu that won’t burn your mouth off – and even their spicy dishes you can move most of the peppers to the side for a more mild heat! I should also note, these peppers are the ones that typically will make your tongue tingle with spice and not just a constant burning like say if you were to eat a jalapeno. Anyways, their food is fresh and delicious and very authentic, which I love! You won’t find these dishes at Panda Express haha. Some of my other favorite dishes from this restaurant include: Kung Pao Chicken (this is the real deal too, exactly what I ate in China, not the fake sugary one you normally get); Dan Dan Noodles; Dumplings; Green Onion Pancake; Eggplant with Brown Sauce; Eggplant with Garlic Sauce. There are so many other dishes I want to try and work my way through their entire menu! If you are looking for authentic Chinese dishes that will take your tastebuds on a trip to China, check this place out.

Find their online menu and order online if you live close enough here.
