The Flour Box

The Flour Box is a cute little bakery located in Hillamn City. They are a small batch, handmade shop. Getting donuts from this place is like winning the lottery! Due to covid, they have closed their doors and are currently open 4 days a week (Thursday-Sunday) for pre-orders only. Because they are a small shop, they can only make a certain amount of items each day, which is why these babies are hard to get your hands on! If you are one of the lucky few though, you know how delicious they are and why they are in such high-demand. The shop currently offers 4 donut flavors, cinnamon rolls, and an assortment of coffee and tea – but here’s the catch, due to high demand there is a limit of 6 items per person (excluding drinks). Orders must be made two days in advance and open at 10am PST, so for example, you need to order on Tuesday for a Thursday pickup and so on. Its seriously competitive y’all! Orders sell out within minutes, sometimes even less time than that. I’ve found that a Thursday or Friday pick up (so ordering on Tuesday or Wednesday) seems to have a higher probability of securing these delights.

So are these worth all the hype and challenge to taste them? ABSOLUTELY! Like wow! Like I mentioned above, they currently offer 4 flavors – Creme Brûlée, Everything Bagel, and two rotating flavors. The Creme Brûlée is filled with a decadent vanilla bean creme and has a torched sugar coating on the top. It was incredible – light and airy but still rich and flavorful. The sugar coating on the outside perfectly mimicked that hard shell on a creme brûlée and added an incredible crunch! The Everything Bagel was probably my favorite – it is a savory donut, which is unique. It is also light and airy, filled with a whipped chive cream cheese and topped with everything bagel seasoning.

Also, make sure to grab a cinnamon roll – well if you’re lucky enough to get your hands on one. They are the best cinnamon rolls I have ever had in my entire life. I am not even exaggerating. They are soft, gooey, and melt in your mouth. They have a deep cinnamon flavor without being too much or too sweet. Heat them up in the microwave for 30-45 seconds and you will never look back. They are topped with a thick cream cheese frosting that is just sweet enough, but not too overpowering. Perfect balance!

Definitely check them out and make sure to set your alarm so you don’t miss pre-ordering! They also have hand crafted coffee and tea that you can order upon pick up. Grab a Cabin Fever or Shy Bear Fog before checking out. I cannot wait to go back and for this space to open back up once it is safe because the atmosphere is incredible! There is so much light in the shop it feels warm and welcoming.
