Big Truck Tacos has been a fixture in OKC for as long as I can remember! They started out as a food truck long ago and then they opened a restaurant on 23rd street – also as long as I can remember. In fact, I can’t think of a time in my life that Big Truck didn’t exist and I can’t imagine life without it. It is always a must when I am in OKC. They have some of the best queso that is not from a tex-mex restaurant (looking at you Ted’s) and they’ve got some tasty tacos! They also do these 5th Amendment tacos that are crazy creations – but here’s the deal, they will not tell you what is in them! They usually will post them on instagram a few days after so you know exactly what ya got. It is a fun option if you have no dietary restrictions and have a high spice tolerance – some of the tacos I have seen them create sound so delicious, but I have seen some that definitely scare me a bit.
All the tacos from Big Truck are delicious, but their little secret is their breakfast items! Big Truck Breakfast slaps more than anything. Honestly it is so good and so underrated. I don’t know if a lot of people just don’t realize they serve breakfast or if they are just too busy in the morning for breakfast? Whatever the reason they are 1000% missing out. They not only have breakfast tacos, but also breakfast plates like migas, huevos rancheros, and chilaquiles. My favorite of their breakfast tacos are the Tall Twin and the Zig. The tall twin comes on your choice of a flour or corn tortilla and is filled with eggs, potatoes, cheese and your choice of meat. It is simple and incredible. The Zig is their vegetarian taco that comes with black beans, potatoes and spinach. Grab a taco or two when you want something a bit lighter. If you want something heavier and maybe that you want to share with someone grab one of their plates. My personal favorite is the migas. It is scrambled eggs with pico, tortilla strips, green onion, and cheese and is served with refried beans, potatoes and tortillas!
