Mama Dough’s is a delicious restaurant located in the Great Wall Shopping Mall in Kent, WA. I have been eating here for several years – really since they opened their doors. At one point, I was going weekly and some weeks even multiple trips because their dumplings are SO good! Everyone that comes to visit me, this is one spot I always take them to. They were even rated as having some of the best dumplings in WA. My only “criticism” is they removed my favorite dish from their menu a few years ago – it was an egg and tomato noodle dish served with cold carrots and cucumbers. It was the perfect balance of hot and cold and was mouthwatering – I am drooling just thinking of this dish! Maybe one day they will bring it back, but in the meantime their dumplings and other dishes keep me coming back week after week.
If you have been to the more popular and well-known dumpling restaurant – Din Tai Fung – this is similar but much better, fresher, and more authentic (in my personal opinion). Don’t get me wrong, DTF is great, but Mama Dough’s is so much more authentic and made with love – they are a small mom and pop shop, not a chain, so while their dumplings might not always be the same shape and size, they quality and flavor is always 100%! Anyways, my dumpling go-tos are ALWAYS their Pork XLB (soup dumplings) and their boiled pork and chive dumplings. I also love their Mama’s Special Baos, Green Onion Pancake, Chicken Tianjin Style Stir Fried Pancake Slices, Chinese Sausage Fried Rice, and Spicy Eggplant.
