It is authentic, delicious, and such a fun atmosphere. This is definitely a local favorite and popular spot, and while you will find tourists in the know, this place is as authentic as it gets. This restaurant also serves one thing they are really known for, chicken. This restaurant has also been around for over 100 years. Talk about tradition.
Their menu is pretty simple, but by keeping it simple they really excel in the dishes they do serve. Like I mentioned, they are well-known for their crispy, roasted chicken and it only comes one way, a half chicken. In addition to the chicken, you can find a few sausages on their menu, potato salad, and cucumber salad. And that is it. No fancy dishes, no frills, just delicious food.
We ordered potato salad, sausage with mustard, a half roasted chicken, and a meat patty. Of course we were served mustard and bread because no German meal is complete without them.
Y’all, this food was unreal. The chicken was so crispy on the outside but so tender and juicy on the interior, I don’t even understand how they can make it so good. It was also so flavorful. The potato salad was also impossible to resist, tangy, creamy, luscious. Oh my. I had to fight my husband to finish it off.
The sausage was also way better than I expected and I would absolutely order more next time. And lastly, the beef patty, while it didn’t look like anything special, it was so moist on the inside and perfectly cooked with so much flavor. It went so well with the mustard.
The only thing left is to wash it down with a beer. Oh and don’t forget to make a reservation – this place gets pretty packed, especially with locals so if you don’t make a reservation, you might not get to try it! We were super lucky that we went a bit earlier than the dinner crowd (thank you jet lag) and the wonderful staff said we could have a seat but we only had an hour before the next reservation was coming in – challenge accepted!
