Oh Tokyo, you are one of my favorite places to explore. The food in Tokyo is unreal and also super affordable! Tokyo itself is very overwhelming and there is so much to see and do in the city. The city is pretty easy to navigate though (but don’t trust the map app on your phone because it will lead you astray at times). There are so many foods to try in Tokyo and while you’ll definitely find a ton of places online, I would encourage you to also pop in to those mom and pop spots that may not be “viral” because you will find some incredible food that might even be the favorite spots of the trip. In between eating though (because you will eat like all day or at least we did to try it all), some of my favorite spots to explore and things to do were: walking around Shibuya (and the famous crossing), Shinjuku, and Takeshita Street; shopping at Don Quiote to grab all of those KitKats to bring home; taking a dinner cruise on the Sumida was an unforgettable experience; walking around the Imperial Palace (just make sure it is open); checking out the interactive art installation at Team Labs; wandering the tight streets at Golden Gai (also a cool spot for a drink); getting a tattoo at Japan Tattoo (definitely book in advance if this is your vibe); eating our way through Tokyo Fish Market (get there early for the best fish and least amount of crowds); trying all the stalls in Asakusa and taking a sushi making class at Sushi Making Tokyo; going to Odaiba and Monjya Street; seeing a traditional Kabuki show at Kabukiza Theater; looking in all the electronic shops in Akihabara; and cuddling with miniature pigs at MiPig Cafe (you will need reservations!). We had the best trip and there was so much to see and do that I could have easily spent an entire month in Tokyo. Below you will find the places we dined at during our 2 week trip! You’ll find a variety of spots all across the city, so happy eating!
