Mexico City Eats

Mexico City is absolutely an underrated city to visit – both for culture and for the food scene. There are so many incredible sites to see around the city like the Xochimilco area to take a canal tour (highly recommend); exploring Coyocan and the food markets (this is also the best spot to grab crickets to try); taking in all the history at the many museums like the Anthropology Museum, Frida Kahlo Museum, or National Art Museum; walking around the massive Chapultepec forest; taking a tour of Teotihuacan to see the pyramids and archeological site; and organize a taco tour through the Centro District to try some of the oldest taco stalls in the city! There seriously is so much to do here and I loved the week that we visited. I also highly recommend trying to visit the city during Dia de Los Muertos, which falls at the end of October – we planned our trip for this so we could attend the huge parade. Along with all of the things to do, there are some incredible places to eat. Mexico City is also home to over 70 Michelin Star and Michelin Guide restaurants…so if you don’t think they have good food, think again. If you aren’t into fine dining though, even their street food and mom and pop spots are top notch. During our trip we tried a variety of food and places and below you will find some of my favorite places we tried. The spots below, I highly recommend trying. The last note, if you are wanting to experience a historic area, stay in Centro (this is also the best place if you are wanting to go for Dia de Los Muertos as this is where the festivities occur); but if you are looking for the trendy, fun, and excellent food spots, I recommend staying in Roma Norte or La Condesa.
