Little Fish Coffee

This little stand seemingly in the middle of nowhere is serving up some incredibly tasty and beautiful food. They are located in the small town of Koloa on the island of Kauai. If you are taking the local bus there (which I recommend if you aren’t able to secure a rental car, day passes are only $5 and the bus is super convenient!), you will find it about 1/2 a mile from the bus stop near the shopping center. Warning for this place, it gets absolutely PACKED in the mornings and they are only open from 7:30am – 1pm. The focus heavily on the breakfast/brunch crowd and serve healthier, lighter options. If you’re a local, or hang around long enough, you will learn you can order online ahead of time and they will text you when the order is ready. This is a great option if you aren’t wanting to stand in the long lines – although they do move fairly quickly. We probably waiting in line for 10-15 minutes and then another 10 minutes to get our food and coffee.

On their menu you will find several bowl options – think acai and chia seed pudding topped with fresh fruit. These are definitely some of their most popular items. They also have bagels, sandwiches, smoothies, and a variety of juices and coffee drinks! This spot was definitely my favorite for fresh fruit bowls during my trip. I tried their Little Fish Bowl which comes with your choice of greek yogurt or poi (chia seed pudding) on homemade granola, topped with fresh seasonal fruit, coconut flakes, and drizzled with coconut condensed milk. It was so fresh and light and a great breakfast option if you are heading to the beach that won’t leave you super full and feeling heavy. I also tried the P.K. Bowl which is their acai bowl with homemade granola and topped with seasonal fresh fruit and bananas. The acai was flavorful as well, but it melted quickly in the sun. The acai is a great option if you have been spending all morning in the sun and need to cool down. I also tried their I Like it a Lox bagel – it was very delicious because I didn’t even get a photo of it. It is a toasted bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon, tomato, onion, capers and lemon pepper. The salmon was so fresh and incredible. I loved this option for a heartier breakfast that still was light and refreshing. This option is perfect if you are about to go on a hike or walk around for a few hours and will keep you full and energized.

Don’t skip this spot, even if the line looks insanely long it is 100% worth it! To explore their menu, check it out here.
