GeneralePorpoise is an adorable little space in Capital Hill serving up some seriously delicious doughnuts. These are not the typical doughnuts you are familiar with or probably grew up on. I don’t know about you, but growing up Saturdays were always for sugary donuts with my father. It was our tradition! We would go get a box of donuts and chocolate milk and find ourselves crashing from the sugar in the afternoon. I have some great memories of those Saturday mornings and although I still love donuts, I just cannot do all that sugar anymore. As I have grown in to adulthood my tastebuds have shifted and prefer more savory than sweet (never thought I would be saying that!). That being said, I still love donuts and find myself craving them on the weekends, perhaps because of all those Saturday dates with my dad! That is where General Porpoise enters.
They make some delicious doughnuts that will not feel like your teeth are rotting away. They are light and airy and unlike any donut I’ve ever had. They offer several different flavors and usually offer some main stays plus seasonal fare! I highly recommend trying their seasonal flavors since they don’t stick around for long and are made with fresh, seasonal ingredients so the flavor is on point! Most recently, I had the opportunity to try their Salted Caramel Seasonal flavor and it was fire! For their main stays, their Vanilla Custard is to die for. It is not the bavarian cream filled custard donut you are familiar with – but almost like a whipped cream that’s a little more dense and full of vanilla bean flavor. It is seriously perfection. Their Chocolate Marshmallow is also a favorite – you can taste the marshmallow come through with a decadent rich chocolate flavor blended in.

While you’re there, make sure to grab a coffee from their espresso bar! They make some delicious drinks that will wake you up and pairs perfectly with your fresh doughnut.
