Sometimes, the best discoveries are the ones we stumble upon by mistake. That’s exactly what happened when we set out to try a restaurant around the corner from our location in Paris’s 7th District. The wait time was too long, and we were about to give up when we stumbled upon Cocorico. We’re so glad we did! This charming bistro serves up classic French fare in a relaxed, rustic setting that’s perfect for a cozy dinner or lunch. The menu changes with the seasons, but you’ll find a few timeless classics on the menu year-round.
I started with the French Onion Soup, which was literally to die for. The rich, flavorful broth and the perfectly caramelized onions had me hooked from the first spoonful. For my main course, I opted for the Beef Bourguignon, which was served in a casserole dish and cooked to perfection. The beef was tender and fell apart easily, and the sauce was rich and full of flavor. My husband’s 7-hour lamb shoulder was a highlight of the meal. Served with a side of potatoes, the lamb was so tender it just melted in your mouth. The flavors were magical, and we both raved about the dish. We so wanted to try their mouthwatering desserts but we were so stuffed we just couldn’t.
The atmosphere at Cocorico is warm and inviting, with a relaxed, rustic vibe that’s perfect for a casual meal. The service is friendly and attentive, and the staff are happy to help you navigate the menu and make recommendations. If you’re looking for a delicious meal in a charming setting, look no further than Cocorico. We’re so glad we stumbled upon this hidden gem, and we can’t wait to go back.
