Coffee & Kuchen, or Coffee & Cake, is a German staple and the whole city seems to come to a stop two times a day. First at around 10am for a coffee break and then again around 3pm for a coffee and cake break. I am so here for this coffee and cake time because who doesn’t need an afternoon pick me up? Cafe Mohr is a quaint cafe located in Trier’s city center. They have actually been around since 1945, which is a long time. Not only do they have an impressive number of baked goods, cakes, chocolates, and more; but they even have a full menu if you want a meal.
We stopped in here a few times for coffee and cake hour in the afternoon and were so pleased with their offerings. The pastry case was impressive and made it difficult to decide what to try. Everything looked so tasty and the few items we did try, we loved. One day we tried this Apple Caramel Tart. It had a super thick, buttery, crumbly crust and that caramel was so smooth and creamy. Their pastries do rotate and tend to sell out, so my advice is to order what your eyes and heart are drawn to that day because you may not get another chance! And don’t forget a cappuccino to go with.
Looks rather nice ๐
