Jovanina’s Broken Italian

Out of all the incredible places we ate in Denver, there is one spot that stands head and shoulders above the rest: Jovanina’s Broken Italian. My husband and I loved it so much that we actually went there twice during our four-day trip. That’s how good it is. The first time was for a lovely, romantic date night, and the second was for a big group dinner with co-workers. Both times, the food was incredible, the staff was amazing, and everything was absolutely perfect.

First, a very important tip: I highly recommend making a reservation, especially if you’re planning to go on a Friday or Saturday. When you do, I would also strongly recommend requesting a table downstairs. The upstairs area is perfectly fine, but the downstairs is where the magic is. It’s darker, moodier, and quieter, with a gorgeous ambiance that makes the whole experience feel even more special.

Now, for the food. If you’re feeling adventurous and want to try a variety of dishes, I suggest getting their set menu. It comes with an appetizer, a main course, a dessert, and wine. It’s a fantastic value, and it’s a great way to try multiple courses and even some special items that might not be on the regular menu.

We tried a lot of different things across our two visits, and honestly, everything was a hit. The Focaccia starter is not to be missed, and their famous Elk Bolognese is absolutely incredible and lives up to all the hype. For seafood lovers, the Lobster Diavolo is packed with lobster meat and has a perfect spicy kick. If you’re looking for something lighter, the Branzino is flakey but has so much flavor. Even the side dishes shine here—the Rainbow Carrots are so tender and light. And for dessert… oh my goodness. The Nutella Tiramisu is outrageously delicious. Seriously, it has no business being that good and is the perfect sweet ending to a perfect meal.

I can’t recommend Jovanina’s Broken Italian enough. It’s a true standout, and a place I will be dreaming about until I can go back to Denver.
