In the world of social media, some foods become famous just for how they look. That’s what drew me to Wicked Cafe, a cute, cozy, and rustic cafe with two locations in Vancouver. They offer a wide range of tasty pastries, savory bites, and coffees, but I came with one specific thing in mind: their viral Tom & Jerry Cheese-cake.
When you walk in, the menu can feel a bit chaotic and hard to decipher, so my first piece of advice is to not be shy and ask questions. But my eyes were on the prize in the pastry case. The Tom & Jerry Cheese-cake is exactly what it sounds like—a dessert that looks just like a classic cartoon wedge of Swiss cheese, holes and all. It’s a fun, whimsical gimmick, and I was excited to see if it tasted as good as it looked. The verdict? It’s a genuinely creamy, smooth, and sweet cheesecake! It was delicious and definitely lived up to the novelty.
I also decided to try one of their S’mores Cookies and a Flat White to go with my cheesecake. And honestly, the cookie was not it for me. It was just way too much. It was overly sweet and seemed to have a combination of cranberries, chocolate, marshmallows, and I think some nuts, all topped with a Biscoff cookie and a Ferrero Rocher-type chocolate. While I appreciate creativity, this was a case of too many things going on at once. Also, just because a cookie has marshmallow and chocolate does not automatically make it a s’mores cookie. The name felt a bit misleading.
So, what’s my final take? The cheesecake is definitely the way to go here, but be aware that it is on the pricier side for a single slice. For me, Wicked Cafe was a fun spot to try once, mostly for the novelty of the cheese-shaped cheesecake. While it was a cool experience, I probably wouldn’t go back regularly. If you’re looking for a fun, Instagrammable treat, it’s worth a stop, but maybe stick to the dessert that made them famous.
