Anh and Chi

When a restaurant earns a spot in the Michelin Guide, you know you’re in for something special. And Anh and Chi, a stunning Vietnamese restaurant in Vancouver, is exactly that—an absolute must-try. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere is vibrant, bright, and bustling with energy. It manages to feel both elegant and modern, yet incredibly warm and welcoming. The menu is a reflection of this vibrant energy—refreshing and absolutely packed with flavor. From creative sharing plates and authentic dishes to carefully crafted cocktails, this is a meal you won’t soon forget.

My husband and I popped in for a late lunch, and even then, the spot was still pretty packed, which is always a great sign. We started our meal with two dishes that, despite eating Vietnamese food often, were new to us: the Crispy Prawn Cake (Banh Khot) and the Steamed Rice Cakes (Banh Beo Hue). And wow, they were incredible. Both were so full of freshness and flavor, hitting all the perfect notes of acidity, a little bit of heat, and a touch of saltiness. It was an amazing start to the meal.

For our main, we decided to share the Hanoi Deconstructed Vermicelli Bowl (Bun Cha Ha Noi), and it was more than enough food for two, especially after our appetizers. The platter came with beautifully grilled pork, flavorful pork wrapped in betel leaf, and delicious handmade pork patties. Alongside the meats, we had a spread of pickled veggies, fresh lettuce, vermicelli noodles, and a bowl of fish sauce for dipping. The idea is to assemble your own perfect bite. You take a piece of lettuce, add some noodles, pickled veggies, and a piece of pork, then wrap it all up and dip it in the fish sauce. It is so, so good! The combination of fresh herbs, savory meat, and the tangy, sweet dipping sauce is just perfection.

Anh and Chi delivered a truly memorable meal. It’s a place that excites your palate and makes you appreciate the beautiful complexity of Vietnamese cuisine. Don’t miss it.
