When you’re in Rome’s vibrant Trastevere neighborhood, you’re surrounded by incredible food. But for a taste of classic Roman street food done to perfection, you have to make a pilgrimage to a spot simply and aptly named Suppli. This place is a true institution, beloved by locals and tourists for its amazing street food classics like suppli, arancini, pizza, pasta, and more. Honestly, this is probably the most delicious spot for Suppli in all of Rome, and I highly recommend you go here to try at least one thing.
The menu rotates daily, so you’ll want to check the board outside for what they’re serving. When you enter the bustling shop, you’ll take a ticket and patiently wait for your number to be called. And here’s a pro-tip: please have your order ready when they call your number. You’ve been waiting long enough to have decided what you want, and being ready helps keep the line moving for everyone. It’s also important to be courteous of those around you in the small space.
My husband and I popped in specifically to try their namesake, and even though we were on a mission, the sheer number of flavors to choose from made it hard to decide. We finally landed on the Cacio e Pepe and the Braised Pork.
And let me tell you, they were extraordinary. The outside was perfectly fried, offering a fantastic crispy texture. The inside was steaming hot, so unbelievably creamy, and bursting with flavor. They were, without a doubt, the best we had on our trip. My only regret is that I didn’t order more! Don’t make my mistake—get at least one more than you think you want. You won’t be sorry.
