Antica Pesa

Since we were in Rome around my birthday, we wanted a truly special meal to celebrate, and we found the perfect place at Antica Pesa in Rome. I can say without a doubt, this was our favorite meal of the entire trip. Antica Pesa is a Michelin Guide restaurant, and the experience is artfully crafted from the moment you walk in the door. It has a long and storied history and is a well-known spot amongst celebrities, but it still feels intimate and welcoming. You will absolutely need a reservation to get in, and yes, it does come with a higher price tag than most spots in the city—but I think it is worth every single penny.

The menu features Roman and Italian dishes that are elevated to a whole new level. Everything is so carefully and beautifully prepared, and the menu changes frequently to showcase the best ingredients of the season. Honestly, the whole menu looked so incredible that it was hard to decide what to order.

We started our unforgettable meal with their freshly baked Sourdough, Prosciutto and Mozzarella En Croute, and a Purple Shrimp Tartare with Ricotta and Courgette. Stunning. There are simply no other words for how delicious our appetizers were. Each dish was a perfect balance of flavor and texture.

For the main course, I went for the Eggplant Cream Ravioli. The pasta was so unbelievably delicate and was just bursting with flavor. My husband ordered the Chamomile Crusted Lamb Cutlets, which were incredibly tender and fragrant. It was another stunning course that showcased the kitchen’s incredible skill.

Of course, we had to get dessert. This is where our indecisiveness got the best of us, and we ended up ordering three different desserts to share! We had the Coconut Panna Cotta, a Mixed Berry Semifreddo, and a classic Mille Feuille. All three were wonderfully light and refreshing, a perfect, sweet end to an incredible meal.

If you are looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion, or you simply want to experience one of the best meals Rome has to offer, you have to book a table at Antica Pesa. It was an experience we will never forget.
