Tucked away in the old Fiat factory (Turin is known for the classic Italian car), Osteria del Fiat is a true gem in Turin, Italy. The moment you step inside, you’ll be surrounded by an eclectic and rustic atmosphere that’s overflowing with Fiat memorabilia. From vintage car parts to iconic Fiat logos, the decor is a treasure trove for car enthusiasts and anyone looking for a unique dining experience. But it’s not just the atmosphere that makes Osteria del Fiat special – the food is authentic, delicious, and made with love. It’s like dining at your nonna’s house, where every bite is a taste of tradition and family. The menu is a reflection of the region’s culinary heritage, with dishes that are both familiar and exciting.
As a local spot, Osteria del Fiat is off the beaten path for most tourists, and the waitstaff definitely don’t speak English. So, be prepared to practice your Italian phrases and enjoy the authentic experience. We didn’t let the language barrier deter us, and we were rewarded with an incredible dinner. We started with fresh mozzarella and a charcuterie plate featuring salami, prosciutto, and mortadella. The cured meats were perfectly paired with the creamy mozzarella, and we couldn’t wait for the main course. I opted for the Trofie Pesto, a handmade, rolled pasta dish smothered in fresh, basil pesto. It was light, yet hearty and filling – the perfect comfort food. My husband chose the menu of the day, which consisted of Agnolotti with Meat Sauce and a slice of veal with gravy and spinach. Both dishes were love at first bite – the flavors were rich and authentic, and the portions were generous.
We were lucky enough to snag a table without a reservation by arriving right when they opened, but by the time we left around 7:30-8 pm, the restaurant was packed. If you want to dine like a local, be sure to book a reservation in advance. Despite the crowds, the atmosphere remained cozy and welcoming, and the service was warm and attentive.
If you’re looking for a truly authentic Italian experience in Turin, Osteria del Fiat is a must-visit destination. With its unique atmosphere, delicious food, and welcoming service, this spot is a true gem in the heart of the city. So, grab a table, practice your Italian, and buon appetito!
