For a taste of traditional Madrid, head to Valor, a beloved chocolatier that has been around since 1881. With several locations across Madrid and Spain, Valor is a staple in the city’s culinary scene. Unlike some of the more touristy spots in Madrid, Valor is a favorite among locals, and you’ll find a warm and welcoming atmosphere that feels like a true Madrid experience.
We stopped by Valor for a sweet treat and were not disappointed. The Churros and chocolate were a highlight of our visit, with rich, thick, and smooth chocolate that was the perfect accompaniment to the crispy, sweet Churros. We also tried a Cafe Bonbon, a signature drink of Spain that combines espresso with sweetened condensed milk. The combination was absolute perfection, with the sweetness of the condensed milk balancing out the boldness of the espresso. What I loved most about Valor was the sense of tradition and history that permeates the place. With a legacy that dates back over 130 years, Valor is a true Madrid institution. The decor is classic and elegant, and the staff are friendly and welcoming.
If you’re looking for a sweet treat or a pick-me-up coffee, Valor is a great choice. The prices are reasonable, and the quality of the food and drink is top-notch. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Valor is a great place to experience a little bit of Madrid’s culinary tradition.
