Longsands Fish

If you’re looking for a quintessential English experience, look no further than Longsands Fish Kitchen in Tynemouth. This classic fish and chip shop is located just a stone’s throw from the ocean, and the views are simply stunning. As you enjoy your meal by the water’s edge, be sure to keep an eye out for the sneaky Seagulls trying to snag a snack!

But what truly sets Longsands apart is their commitment to serving up sustainable and locally sourced seafood. They work closely with local producers to ensure that their fish is not only delicious but also responsibly sourced. And with an extensive menu featuring a variety of fish options, including shrimp, haddock, cod, salmon, and mussels, there’s something for every fish lover. But don’t worry if you’re not a fan of fish – Longsands also offers a range of alternative options, including sausages, Halloumi, falafel, and vegan sausage. For me, though, the classic cod and chips was the way to go. I paired mine with a side of curry sauce for dipping, along with the traditional mushy peas and tartar sauce. The squeeze of lemon added just the right amount of acidity to lighten up the dish.

And oh, the fish – it was absolutely sublime. The cod was cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior giving way to a light and flaky interior. It was truly some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. We also tried the cod and prawn mix, which was equally delicious. The combination of the two proteins added a lovely depth of flavor to the dish, and it was perfectly complemented by the crispy chips.

If you’re looking for a truly authentic English experience, Longsands Fish Kitchen is a must-visit. With its stunning ocean views, commitment to sustainability, and delicious food, it’s a spot that’s sure to leave you feeling full and happy.
