Even if you have never been to England, you may have heard of Nando’s. It is a popular chain that serves up flame-grilled peri peri chicken. Peri Peri is a type of chili that grows in South Africa (also known as Birds Eye Chillies) and Nando’s uses them in all of their marinades and sauces. These chillies provide a strong flavor and subtle heat and they are the reason for Nando’s success. You can find Nando’s in almost every corner of the UK and Northern Ireland. Their menu focuses on chicken, but you can find a variety of dishes if chicken isn’t your thing. For most people enjoying Nando’s, we are going for one thing – their flame-grilled chicken. Which you can get in a variety of ways – wings, thighs, breasts, whole, in a burger or in a wrap. The other thing that makes Nando’s what it is are their sauces! From mild to extra spicy, you’ll find a plethora of different flavors and spice levels to enjoy with your chicken. I grabbed a grilled chicken pita with grilled halloumi, lemon herb sauce and a side of fries and peas! I also used their garlic sauce and it was fantastic. The chicken was actually better than I expected. It was very juicy and tender and had a hint of smokiness from the grill. Check it out if you have never been to one!
