Ever wanted to have afternoon tea in a cathedral? Well in Coventry at St. Mary’s Guildhall you absolutely can! This gorgeous Guildhall has stunning medieval architecture and so much history. It is actually one of the few locations that survived the WWII bombings. It has been around for years and years so this is a wonderful historical area to explore. I was able to snag a reservation for afternoon tea for 1 and it was a truly unique and unforgettable experience. Anytime I am in England, I love doing afternoon tea at least once – it is just so fun and relaxing, so when I found St. Mary’s I knew it was the perfect spot. You must reserve your team spot at least 24 hours in advance though, so make sure to plan ahead or you will miss out. You can still go dine in their restaurant if you aren’t able to get a tea reservation. Their tea menu comes with your selection of tea and an assortment of finger sandwiches, desserts, small bites, and of course a scone with jam and clotted cream (the highlight always). And it is only 30pound per person! They even have a few menu variations to accommodate those with dietary restrictions. And if you are looking for something a little stronger, you can add wine or bubbles to your tea set. The food was actually really good and I love the variety you get with afternoon tea. My favorite item was the warm, buttery, flakey scone with the Cold, creamy clotted cream and the tangy jam. There is something about that combination that just works and is so delicious. If you are in Coventry, treat yourself and enjoy the history of the area!
