The Botanist

The Botanist is a super cute, very green restaurant with locations around England. Their interior will feel like you are in a garden or woods or an arboretum. One of their other claims to fame is the hanging kebabs on the menu. It is probably their signature dish and is also a fun way to serve, and eat kebabs! The menu overall is a bit eclectic and has something for everyone. I would probably describe their menu as being a bit random, but most of their dishes that I have tried are delicious and consistent. You’ll find dishes like scotch eggs and fish and chips (English classics), arancini and burrata (Italian), Korean fried chicken and pork belly bites (Asian fare), and schnitzel (German)…plus many more cuisines not mentioned. I do feel like they need to narrow the menu down a bit and get similar dishes together because it does read a bit weird.

Nonetheless, the dishes I have eaten here have been pretty solid – some better than others. The Kebabs are truly the stars of the show and probably my favorite dish to enjoy here. The sharing kebab is my personal fav because you get to try 3 of the kebabs of your choice. My recommendation is the chicken, shrimp, and steak! It usually comes with rice and hummus and a dipping sauce of your choice. A perfect option for sharing or if you want to try a few of their kebabs. My other favorite is their Sourdough Bread that comes with a green garlic butter that is a little salty and so rich. The sourdough is light and fluffy with a nice crumb and a crusty exterior. Another can’t miss dish is the Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert. 10/10 – it is warm and nutty with a caramel-like sauce drizzled on top with a cold scoop of ice cream.

Overall this restaurant is a super cute place to dine with so much greenery and plants all over. I also think this spot is great for lunch and cocktails – it is a bit easier on the wallet with their lunch specials, but it only applies to the kebabs (still a good deal!). The cocktails are also artfully crafted and they have some fun features to try!
