Yankee Lobster has a long history in the city of Boston. While the restaurant hasn’t been open since the 1920s, the family has been in the lobster industry since then. That is where it all started – a family lobster fishing business dating back to the 1920s that went through 3 generations. To this day, the family still runs a commercial lobster company and they serve up fresh lobsters through their restaurant, Yankee Lobster. You’ll find tons of seafood options on the menu, not just lobster. I ventured there for lunch and got there before they opened as I had heard about long lines. To my surprise when I arrived there was already a line – not a long one, but still a line! I grabbed a cold Lobster roll and a small lobster bisque – really went all in for the lobster here. To be honest, for all the hype this restaurant has, I was a little let down with the flavors. The lobster bisque was a bit watery – it wasn’t that creamy, smooth, delicious lobster bisque I am familiar with. To be honest it didn’t really have much flavor either. The lobster roll, while it had lots of claw meat – like probably the most of any lobster roll I ate in Boston, there were some pieces of shell and it lacked flavor for me. I know the lobster should stand on its own, but it just needed something. The pieces of shell also really put me off because no one likes to find crunchy shells in their lobster roll, or seafood dish period. Maybe I ordered wrong? Maybe I just caught them on an off day? Not sure, but I would probably give them another try and order something different to see! To check them out yourself, click here.
