Saltie Girl will be one of the most divine restaurants you will eat at, but it will come with a fairly high price tag! Located in the Back Bay area of Boston, this restaurant has a stunning dining room and huge patio. Even with a large amount of seating, this place is always full so it is very much encouraged to make a reservation. My husband and I were able to grab a table at the bar for an early dinner but even then, this place was absolutely packed with very few tables left. As the name may suggest, Saltie Girl, does all things seafood with their speciality being seafood towers and tinned fish. Their list of tinned fish is absolutely wild – they have so many varieties that I have never even heard of! The tinned list is actually longer than some restaurants’ entire menu. For real though, you’ll find Sardines, Salmon, Trout, Branzino, Squid, Cockles, Clams, Anchovies, Mussels, Scallops, Mackerel, Herring, Cod, Octopus, Tuna, Oysters, Eel, and Hake. Like have you EVER seen a more extensive list of tinned fish? And not only the types, but the majority of their supply comes from Spain, Portugal, and a few other countries in Europe. Not to mention, there are multiple types and flavors under each fish. If tinned fish aren’t your jam, don’t worry they have plenty of other options including caviar, lobster rolls, fish & chips, lobster & waffles, a raw bar, and even a burger for those seafood haters.
We grabbed some classics for dinner and while we didn’t get any tinned fish, we made sure to get plenty of lobster! I went with the Lobster Roll, warm; and my husband went with the Lobster & Waffle. The lobster roll was served on a warm, buttery roll that was grilled on the outside and had a nice little bite to it. The lobster was also so tender and sweet with large chunks and then topped with a warm, slightly sweet butter. It also comes with Saltie Girl’s own sea salt + vinegar chips – they were fine but the lobster roll was stunning. The Lobster and Waffle though was unreal! The lobster chunks were lightly battered and fried but not too much that it detracts from the luscious, velvety lobster. The waffle was also so fluffy and buttery and topped with a sweet corn butter and a spicy maple syrup – the ultimate sweet + spicy combo. I still think about this meal and it is one of my favorite spots in Boston and even in New England. Yes, it is expensive, but the quality is high and the flavors are great. Even if you just go for a drink and split something small, this is a restaurant that you don’t want to miss! For their full menu and to see their extensive list of tinned fish, click here.
