In n Out

Okay, I know this spot is not limited to San Francisco, but I just HAD to mention it because if you are in California it is a MUST. While In n Out has now opened locations across the US, it didn’t always used to be like that. Until about 2014 I’d say, they were exclusively in California and if you wanted to try one of these famous burgers, ya had to take a trip there. I will never forget the first time I had In n Out. It was back in like 2008/2009 and my best friend’s family always vacationed in San Diego in the summer and I was fortunate enough to be included on their summer trips. The first time I went with them, they took me immediately from the airport right to In n Out and we all got burgers, fries and shakes. That first bite was magical and everytime I eat In n Out, I always think back to that first time when I felt so cool because I got to try In n Out in California when the majority of my friends hadn’t. (And yes, I am still good friends with her and her family and anytime we are together in a city with In N Out we always enjoy it together – it’s our little friendship thing). I know not everyone is going to love this place and it has a lot of mixed feelings with it; but to me this place always has delicious, fresh burgers that are so hot and juicy and piled high. My go to order is a Double Double, Animal Style – which just means they add grilled onions, mustard to the patty, and their special sauce that is so creamy and tangy. The lettuce, tomato, and pickles are always cold, fresh and crunchy which is such a lovely contrast to the cheesy, hot burger. The buns are also so soft and buttery. I will say though, their fries are not it… they are never crispy enough and are just meh. I usually order them Animal Style so they at least come with some toppings that make eating them a bit better. So in all, In N Out burgers always hit for me and I will always grab one if I am near a location! Check them out if you haven’t been.
