If y’all thought I was going to go to Italy and NOT eat pizza at least once, then y’all should know better lol. Pizza is honestly the perfect lunch to grab because it is so easy and quick…quick by Italian standards. Piz a pizza shop located just a few blocks from the Duomo and Palazzo. The inside is eclectic and they have lots of outdoor tables, which is my preference when the weather is nice. We went for lunch during peak hours and this place was packed, but we didn’t wait more than 10 minutes for a table outside – they definitely seem to turn tables a bit quicker than a lot of restaurants, which is nice for someone like me that did not plan a lunch or reservation. One thing that makes this place work so well is its simplicity. The menu literally has like 5 pizzas and that’s it. I actually really like this because it is clean and easy to make a decision and the restaurant can focus on quality pizza. I grabbed the Margherita, because of course I am going for the classic; and my husband went with the Chefs Choice, so it was a surprise! The Chefs Choice had their fresh tomato sauce, olives, a whole thing of burrata, and basil with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. The margherita was of course the fresh tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil, and a drizzle of high quality olive oil. Outstanding – the pizza crust was beautifully charred on the outside and bottom but the inside was still fluffy and soft with a wonderful bite and chewiness (in the best way). When the pizzas are so simple, it is so important to use quality ingredients and Piz absolutely nailed that part – you can really taste the difference.
