Sansotei is an authentic Ramen restaurant. specializing in Tonkotsu Ramen where they take inspiration from the Kyushu and Hokkaido regions of Japan. They also source all of their ingredients from Japanese suppliers to ensure authentic, and high quality ingredients which make all the difference in their dishes. They also opened their first location in 2012 and have grown across Canada! My husband and I grabbed dinner at their downtown Toronto location on our trip. This location was cozy and welcoming.
Sansotei takes extra care and effort to serve the most delicious bowl of ramen and they really are exceptional. They make all their broth in house, fresh, daily. The menu is simple, really focusing on the ramen and limited sides so they can ensure every bowl is top notch. Even though the menu is smaller, it was so difficult to choose a bowl of ramen because so many of the combinations sounded incredible. In the end, we opted for their Tonkotsu Black and Miso Black. We of course had to try the Tonkotsu, since this is what they are known for. You also get to choose thin or thick noodles, which are also made from scratch, by hand to produce these bouncy, chewy, tender noodles that you won’t be able to get enough of. The Tonkotsu Black had a broth that was so savory and rich with such a deep flavor. The chasu pork was so tender and delicate that it almost melted in my mouth. This ramen was absolutely top notch and the black garlic drizzle added such a powerful punch, in a good way. The Miso Black was also super rich with more of a salty bite to it. The Miso also came with spicy kakuni and soft mushrooms. Absolutely divine! Take a peak at their full menu here.
