Need a quick, delicious bite in downtown Toronto? Look no further than Mom’s Pan Fried Buns! Everything here is homemade, made by hand, and definitely made with love. One of my favorite cuisines is Asian, which I know is a very broad term, but I honestly could eat dumplings everyday for the rest of my life. They are just so delicious and comforting and have so many filling and cooking options. So when I walked by Mom’s in the morning, I immediately took a mental note and came back for lunch. I was BLOWN away with the menu and the restaurant. They have buns, dumplings, fried chicken, noodles and so much more! I could have probably eaten here everyday on my trip and I was pretty bummed I only got to eat there once, but I still think about it. I grabbed the following: Pork Pan Fried Buns, Black Sesame Pancake, and Chive + Pork Dumplings. The pan fried buns were absolutely incredible – so rich and flavorful and bursting with filling. I also love the contrast of the crispy bottom with the soft, fluffy bun. Their chili oil also adds the perfect amount of heat! The dumplings were also perfection. Most people prefer pan fried or steamed, but my favorite is actually boiled dumplings – it just makes that wrapper really stick to the filling almost like a vacuum sealer. Boiled dumplings also have a slightly different texture, they are softer and chewier and really just make the filling taste even better. If you have never had boiled dumplings, definitely try them and definitely go to Mom’s to get them! Don’t skip this place because you will fall in love!
