Oh Pizza… there are so many types of pizza all over the world and everyone definitely has an opinion on what is best. Just in the US, we have New York Style, Detroit Deep Dish, Chicago style, and I am probably forgetting a few. Chicago Deep Dish pizza comes with a lot of opinions and controversies. I feel like if you live outside of Chicago or Illinois, this is not your favorite and you might not even call it pizza. So what is it? The pizza has a super thick, dense crust, and then it is filled with cheese, topped with sauce and toppings. It is like a reverse pizza with the sauce being on top instead of on the bottom. Giordano’s is supposed to be like THE place to get Chicago pizza and has been around for decades. I obviously had to try it – I just got a simple personal size pepperoni. Honestly, I am not a fan of Chicago deep dish; the crust is just too dense and dry for me. The fillings and sauce were good, but I just prefer a fluffy, thinner pizza dough. I still think it is worth trying out if you have never had it and if you are going to try it Giordano’s is definitely the place to go!
