Cocottes

Cocottes started in 2014 and has expanded all over Luxembourg. While walking around the city center, I passed the window of this shop and the colors and beautiful tarts and quiches immediately caught my eye. Everything was seriously stunningly beautiful, like a piece of art. The shop is perfect for grab and go and they have all sorts of sides, sandwiches, tarts, and even wine for you to pick up. A perfect stop for a picnic in the park, an easy lunch, or even a delightful dinner at home. Of course with how beautiful these tarts looked, I couldn’t just walk past it right? Of course I had to go in and try something!

I grabbed a sweet and a savory. The sweet was a rhubarb strawberry (I think) tart and the savory was an olive, mushroom, sundried tomato quiche. To be honest, I don’t speak French and the entire menu was in French, so it was a lot of pointing and hand gesturing with the staff, who were amazing by the way. Anyways, I couldn’t heat them up since I was walking around, but even cold these pastries were freaking fabulous. The quiche has so much flavor with the olives and tomatoes. It was so light and the crust was super buttery and flakey. This would have been even better warmed up, but even cold I would give it a 10/10! The sweet tart with the rhubarb was so zesty and fresh. It was just tart and tangy enough without being like a sucker punch to your tastebuds.

If I travel back to Luxembourg, which I so hope to, I would grab some of their other prepared foods and make a whole picnic out of it!
