Y’all…when my friend told me about this place, I knew I had to check it out, but I also don’t think I fully understood what they meant. They told me, oh yeah they have big sandwiches and cakes… like okay sure. No like these were the size of my head..no joke. I wish I had taken some comparison photos for a size reference because these were massive and I don’t think my photos even come close to doing it justice. Luckily, my husband and I were warned, so we did just decide to split a sandwich, but even then we couldn’t finish it!
Harold’s is also known for their corned beef and pastrami and they definitely don’t mess around with their food. They also have a full pickle bar, with like a dozen different types of pickles – a real pickle lovers dream! We grabbed a Pastrami Sandwich, which I am pretty sure had a whole pound of beef on it; and we took a slice of classic NY style cheesecake to go – there was no way we could eat anything else with all that meat in our stomachs. The sandwich came with coleslaw, mustard, and the pickle bar. The pastrami was surprisingly delicious and so tender – I also loved that there weren’t just fatty chunks – it was super thinly sliced and just melted in my mouth. If pastrami isn’t your jam though, they have a whole menu with just as delicious (and large) dishes. I will say now though that a sandwich and slice of cheesecake will set you back about $60, but it could feed 2-3 people easily!
Definitely check this spot out if you’re in New Jersey, especially if you love pickles!
