Kotti

If you are familiar with Berlin Doner Kebab, then you might also know how hard it is to find in the US – or really to find outside of Berlin period. Doner Kebab was invented in Berlin by the large Turkish population that immigrated there and it is a part of Berlin culture and history. So back to Kotti, to find a Berlin Doner spot in Brooklyn, NY was so fun! Located inside Dekalb Market along with so many delicious spots. There are two key elements of Berlin Doner – 1) the meat; it must be made of at least 60% lamb and beef and it must be on a spit; and 2) the bread; there is a very specific bread that is used that is unlike anything you’ve ever had. I grabbed a classic Beef Doner with all the toppings – red cabbage, red onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, creamy garlic sauce! It was honestly so incredible and reminded me of the Doner I have consumed in Berlin. This spot is a must try if you’re in the area because you will be left with a smile.
