Dumplings? Say less – I will always say yes. Dumplings are like one of my all time favorite foods and I could eat them every day for the rest of my life. They are just so good, comforting, and versatile. So when I found a spot in Brooklyn called Oh Dumpling, I obviously had to check it out. Looking at their website, it was another tiny spot with no seating- so I knew ordering online and grabbing it to go was the move. It’s a bit hard to eat dumplings on the street haha so take out at the hotel sounded perfect. The menu has a lot to take in, so spend some time on it. They offer more than just dumplings, including jianbing (which are sooo good), buns, noodles, and soup! For their dumplings, they have several filling options from meat to seafood to vegetarian. You can also choose pan fried and boiled.
I ordered online and headed out to pick it up. When I got to the shop, it was so small and cozy but also packed – I was actually surprised because I ordered at like 5pm (a bit early for the dinner crowd). Inside, there were only a few people working and it felt very homey. It also smelled incredible and it was fun watching all the cooking – everything was prepared fresh and made to order. I grabbed my order and ventured back, so tempted to stop along the way and just take a lil bite.
It was so hard to choose what type of dumplings to get, so I wanted to try a few. I ordered Spicy Pork Wontons, Pan Fried Pork & Chive, and Spicy Mini Pork & Mushroom. I also got an Original JianBing – which is a thin crepe like batter that is filled with egg, veggies, sauce and a crispy wonton. These dumplings were incredible. I was also impressed that with the travel how well the pan fried ones held up – they still have a lovely crispy texture. The fillings were also phenomenal – simple, yet flavorful.
